lol, i know i need to rebuild the engine, it doesn't smoke or anything, but it has 166K miles. Well, do you think it would be better to just have my stock head P&P'd? I'd be really suprised with 60% more power in torque, because like i said, it would raise me up close to 450 in torque. I'd like to get the intake manifold ported too, i think that would raise the power with the new head also. yeah Optikal, i've saw that post on there (i go to that sight too). It didn't look like he got alot of power out of it though(150HP, 253TQ). My stock engine makes more than that does, so he probably was doing the work on a mid 70's 300 when the horsepower was like 90 or something. If he is working on a stock engine, he did get about a 60% gain with all the stuff that was done to it. If you guys have any other ideas about what i should do, please let me know.
matt
ok, HIS truck is a 1993 and those numbers are at the REAR WHEELS. it roughly caluclates to 178 hp and 296 torque at the engine. not bad if u ask me for a mild head massage and cam install. but also look at the torque curve, its almost stock and a bunch higher.
he didnt have the ports enlaged and still needs to have it tuned. add a set of long tube headers and i reckon he'll see 300 RWTQ. that's a good amount of power in a DD and still have near stock power curve.
