Fuel Guage?

Fuel Guage?
Not a Ford but my dads 1994 Grand Voyager. The fuel guage is not accurate. When you fill the tank the guage will continue to read full for several miles in which it used enough gas to move the guage but the guage dosent move. However, when the van sits overnight and you crank it the first time it will read closer to accurate for approx. 20 minutes than it either sits on full or empty. When the tank really is empty it will move to empty and the light will illuminate. Any ideas on what kind of issue this may be. I am not sure if this would be electrical or vacuum so I posted it here, if another forum would be more appropriate than mods please move to proper forum. The van is a 94 Grand Voyager with a 3.0 liter V6 and 130,000 miles on the clock. Thanks in advance.

might have to replace the sending unit. It sounds like it's sticking on you. The electronics are working from the sounds of things, but the sending unit isn't falling under it's own weight. froblem is that I think this entails a tank dropping.
