I want to add a DVD system to my '03 Limited, but it has that 3' long overhead console that's mucking up all the real estate.
I'm not interested in a factory system.
I've seen some online, but it looks like you lose the lie-o-meter. Is this the case?
Plus, they cost around $1200.
My local shop says they might be able to cut 7" screens in the back of the seats, 5" for sure, for about the same money. I'd rather have the 10.5" on the roof and out of kicking distance.
Anybody done this recently. I searched, but nothing recent.
I was at a audio video place in Orange County Ca. and they had a a factory replacement with a 10" i cant remember what they wanted for it over a grand I am sure.
The place was called crazy stereo, the console had the back seat heat/cooling controls and a few little compartment I think!
It was called crazy stereo you can look it up if you like or i can get the # for you
i have 5 tv's in mine. all 7". 1 in front, in dash. 2 in front seat headrests-7". and 2 on the ceiling just above the 3rd row seats. the 7" monitors will work fine provided that the installer knows what he is doing.if i knew how to get pics in my gallery, i would show some.
I put the dual screen 7" in my X. It's portable so I can put it in the wife's Grand Prix if we take that to the cottage. Besides, my X is a company truck and it can get switched out at any time so I need things to be portable.
if you are handy you can do it yourself and save money. i put dual monitors in the headrest. it isnt too hard..... my job isnt totally professional clean, but not too bad and it only cost me my time and around $300 for all the equipment. i had some experience putting a universal flip down in my minivan, i learned alot doing that and it helped me with some issues i had doing the X.
