c6 shift timing

hi, I have an 86 f-250 with 6.9 and a c6 trans.. the engine came out of another truck that had a 4 speed. the truck runs greAT WITH 200,000 miles on it. my problem is with the shift timing. it takes a long time to shift into 2nd and into 3rd. it will not shift sooner by letting off of the accelerator. when it does shift it shifts hard which is good. ive checked previous posts on this subject but no help. I believe vaccume is good , the brake booster is getting good vacume. how do I adjust the shift points? thanks in advance.

On the side of your injector pump there will be a small plastic box with a vacuum line into it. The two phillips screws are slotted, loosen the screws and rotate it towards the front of the truck. Should help.

under that little box on the injection pump, is a little tab that has be in the right place in order to adjust the vacuum. You also might have an adjustable modulator on the right side of the transmission that will help you out in adjusting the vacuum. Also check the line to the trans making sure it isnt pinched or worn thru.
