302 to 460

OK i new here and have spent the last hour searching but found nothing.

I have a 1977 f-100 swb 2wd. It had a 302. I need to mount a 460 in place of the 302. Factory mount perches are still on the frame. Before anyone screams L&L know that I won't buy that junk anymore. This is a 70 460 that is built to 650rhp. I have broke 2 sets of L&L mounts. The second set took part of the frame and the guard rail bent the rest beyond repair. ruff ride to say the least. Worst part is i got beat buy that damn slowmarro. I want to mount this 460 on the factory mount perches. Anyone done this? One side looks close. The other side might need to be moved witch is no big deal. measurements would be great. I was thinking about getting factory mounts or solid mounts and adapting them to these pearches. They are tall enough to keep my deep pan off the crossmember so it looks great. We all know that doing it yourself is the only right way. Just wander if anyone has. I know the distance between the pearches is right. just dont know how far forward to put them. Thanks alot and you guys have a great site.

The best I could tell you is to pull the clip off and start playing with it I know the 302's set further back but not sure how far! sorry couldn't be more help.

So you have left the 302 engine perches on the frame and bolted in the 460 previously using L&L mounts? You should be able to find a late 70's truck running a 460 and use those factory mounts, unless I am reading that this portion of the frame is damaged and you cannot mount there. Just out of curriosity, are you using a torque limiter on your motor, so that it doesn't twist the remainder of your frame? In all honesty, you might want to explore and engine plate up front....
