1994 F-150 Flooding problems

I have a 1994 F-150 with a 300 I-6. It has 213,000 miles on it. It starts and runs great when cold, however, if you start it and warm it up when you shut it off if you try to restart before it cools off totally, you have to hold the gas on the floor and it starts and floods for a minute. The exhaust smells really bad all of the time with a strong chemical smell. I have had the catalytic converters checked out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
