Hi everyone
I am a Ranger owner and this is my first time on this forum. My Dad has a 2001 F-150 with factory driving lights. The driving lights only come on in conjunction with the low beam head lights. He spends a lot of time off the highway on gravel woods roads. He would like the lights to be on with the hi-beam lights so that they go out when you dim the head lights. (They are great for lighting up the pot holes but they wont come on with the high beams) Does anyone know how this could be done? We have asked this question at two different dealers but they didnt want to get involved in the matter. They said it cant be done. I think they mean that they are not allowed to do it. Any help would be great. Thanks, Dan Robertson
Look closely at the edges of the headlight switch panel. You will see where you can insert a jeweler's screwdriver, or a pick, and pull out the switch. Unplug it, and remove the back housing. For mine, it took having to cut the little tabs all around that back of it. I just super glued it back on. But there are some that have little pressure tabs to release the housing. Once you have it apart, you will see what forces the switch back in when in the "Parking Lights only " position. DO NOT CUT the little bar. Trim the plastic steps that cause the bar to pull in. Now there is a wire that needs to be jumped but I can't remember exactly which one, but if you do a search in this forum for FOG LIGHTS, you will find quite a few references to other sites or forums that have the exact instructions.
skilife17,
That would be fine. I dont believe that we can share email addresses on this site, thus I am not sure of how to get my address to you. It seems to me that these lights are operated by a relay switch of some kind, that gets its power from the lo beam head lights. All we are looking for is how to swap it to the hi beams. I will search this site for fog lights too. Thanks, Dan
