I have 72 F100 I am switching from manual brakes and steering to power brakes and steering. My donor truck is a 79 F150. I read in a Tech Article on this site it said to use king pin set for your truck. I compared kin pins for the two trucks and found that the pins for my 72 are 1 ten thousandth smaller in OD and 200 thousandth shorter. Is going to cause a problem? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
If your donor front end is in good shape, you can change out the complete I-beam set, and do it faster in a lot of cases than just changing spindles. If the King pins are bad, it's a different story.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Use the entire front suspension from the '79 even if the king pin are worn. With the I beams off you can have the king pins pressed out. I personally wouldn't go to all the work of the swap w/out replacing the king pins anyway. If your budget allows, replace EVERYTHING. Steering linkage, calipers, brake lines etc. You can do the whole thing for about $400. Your truck will drive like new, you'll know it's right and will last.
