VDO Speedo Reset

Help again...I had new gauges installed in my '55 F100 and the speedo has never worked right. The guy who installed them said he'd send me the manual, but never did (he's in Va and I'm in Oregon). Anyway, when I fire it up, the speedo cycles from zero to max and then back to zero. Anybody out there have any ideas?? Sure would like to know how fast I'm going before one of our friendly local law enforcement officers do it for me. Thanks/Bob.

My insructions with my Autometer speedo says "To set the speedometer in calibration mode;press and hold the trip/reset button while starting the engine, then release the trip/reset button. the pointer will then move to full scale.

Go to the beginning of a known two mile distance and stop. Press and release the trip/reset button. The pointer will move to half scale and is ready for calibration.

Drive the two mile distance and stop. press and release the trip/reset button. The calibration mode will be exited and the pointer will return to zero mph

Note: The accuracy of the speedometer depends on the accuracy of the measured two mile distance.

If you have a different brand, contact the manufacturer and I,m sure they would e-mail you instructions.

I hope this helps

Wayne

PM me with your email address and I can scan the directions for the VDO gauge and email it to you. I have the same speedo that I bought new.
