A stupid exhaust question!
I know this is probably going to be a stupid question but none of you can laugh in my face so I'm gonna ask it anyhow.....haha Is there a difference in sound in a cat-back exhaust system the has two tips exiting at the side compared to two tips out the rear? I was looking at Magnaflow setups, and I've heard some guys in here like two tips exiting behind the tire, I don't want to deal with the problems with the hitch and the two out the rear. I wish they made system with one tip exiting behind each of the rear tires, instead of two if them behind the one tire.

They do! It's called custom.... Buy your Magnaflow muffler... take it to a good exhaust shop that bends thier own pipes and have them install it the way you want! It will be cheaper also! I had a full custom cat back put on my Expedition for under $250! This included 2 SS tips! Find a competent shop though. I have one locally that could wrap an Exhaust pipe around your axle if you wanted it! Good luck! I just can't justify ripping out an exhaust system that has 24,000 on it. It is killing me not to have it, thats about the only thing I miss from my Expedition. I just ordered my EDGE, so maybe in a few months I can bring myself to take a torch to the exhaust!

I have dual tailpipes out either side of the hitch and have no problems on my 01. They clear the spare tire and all. Not alot of difference in the sound, I just think that out the rear looks better.
