I have a 68 F100 and I am putting a wooden bed on it. I am having problems with the taillights though. I reconnected the factory taillights the same way they were on originally. When i tested them this is what happened
Turn signal- front, and rear lights turn on but do not blink, arrows on dash do the same
Brake-no response
Headlights- front work no response in the back
Back up lights no response
I really would appreciate it if someone knows how to fix this problem.
Were they working before? Do you have the tail lamps grounded to the frame? When you removed the old tail lights from the pickup body, was there a short wire attached to the light body by a small screw? If so, you need to attach that wire to the light body and run a jumper from each light to a clean ground on the frame. Chances are the electricity has nowhere to go without a ground.
Definately agree with above post. It is definately a ground. If you get them grounded correctly and the blinkers still perform the same way it is most likely the flasher. A good test for this is to turn on your emergency flashers. If it does the same thing it is most likely the blinker flasher that is bad. Or it could be both flashers are bad but that is a long shot.
Good luck,
Russell

If nothing else works try a directional switch,I had the same probelm with my '72. I got lucky and found one at a ford dealer ship only around 200 miles from my house.
