rag joint worn out

I need to replace mine on 1992 Explorer. Flaming RIver sells a U joint replacement product- getting rid of the rubber piece altogether. anyone out there have to do this ?

getting rid of the rubber will eliminate the thing wearing out, but it will also give you a bit more shaking through the wheel, from the tires. If you think this will bother you then maybe the rubber isnt all that bad.

rag joint replacement...

I am basically wanting to either replace the rubber disc it self ( steering coupler ) or remove it altogether and go with a u joint. Just want to know if anyone has done this. I put a 3 inch lift on the truck and the angle stresses the rubber and causes it to crack - rip - tear. Eventually it will tear apart and no steering is dangerous.
