Last Monday I went to pass a slow truck with my 92 F150 when steam filled the cab . When I got the windows open I saw water running from under the dash at the glove box area. I rerouted the heater hoses but all week the truck has run bad. It stalls, stoped at stop lights it acts like it's going into second gear. On the road the rpms serge 100 to 200 rpm. Today I replaced the heater core. Now My question is what do the black boxes in front and beside the heater core do and will they affect the running and shifting of the truck? They look dry but I think they got steamed real good. Help please, the truck has over 250,000 miles on it so it's getting nicely broke in.
Those boxes around the heater core are just the ducting if my memory serves me right. At the bottom of the A pillar on the passenger side is some electrical connection for the HVAC and there are some vacuum connectors from the dash there.
The computer and other powertrain controls are on the driver's side.
The boxes both have wires running to them. One is mounted in front of the heater core you have to take it loose to get to the core. My real question is could this make my truck idle so bad and is this what makes the transmition act so odd?
My 95 manual says RABS module and wiper control module are under right side dash - neither should affect trans or engine.
Suggest disconnect battery to clear computer memory and relearn driving parameters: see what results that gives you.
