Hello all. I am going to be spending some time in this board since I bought my 3rd Ford and first project truck today . It's a 72 F-100 4x4, 4 speed with a 390. It runs great, the tranny is good, the frame is good, but it needs lots and LOTS of body work,(more like sheetmetal), and it has a steering problem. I searched here and have been reading for a few days since I've been looking at the truck. I didn't bring it home yet and won't till monday but I have a question already. There is a round aluminum looking selector thingydoo with 5 or 6 numbers on it that is inline between the ? and the holley 2bbl carb. What is this and what does it do? Any and all help is appreciated. It's probobly pretty obvious and I'll feel stupid when I find out but I just gotta know. Thanks, Ted
Can you post a picture of the aluminum thing?
I've got a '72 F250 4x2 with a 360 and it doesn't have anything like that. Mine's a California vehicle, too, so if anyting, mine should have more weird emissions realated hardware.
I'd bet someone added an inline pressure regulator on the fuel line. If your float in the carb is set right and you're not running a super high pressure fuel pump, the regulator isn't needed.
