Fix A/C or not?
Trying to decide whether I want to invest the time and money to get the A/C system in my Ford running again. The guy who owned it before me said that it never worked very well, so for some moronic reason, he chopped all the houses under the hood and removed all the A/C gear, leaving the A/C/Heaterbox in the cab. So...I'll have to buy everything except the heaterbox setup.
Does the A/C in these trucks work really well when in decent shape?

Remeber that if you do decide to re-install the A/C you will have to convert it to the new R-134. R-12 is no longer available unless you know of someone with a stash. And if you think R-12 had problems, R-134 is a nightmare trying to get to operate. Unless it's a health requirement I would disregard trying to put it back together.

I have a 1969 F100 4x2 with the factory AC. I had it converted to R134 when I replaced the engine. I also put the stainless hose coverings on at the same time. No problems yet with the conversion. The only problem I am having is finding a replacement idler pulley - one of the bearings is shot. I still run the AC, but I know the idler is going to fail soon.
