Hey! I live in a farming region where corn is easy to come by. I was wondering, has anyone tried to make ethanol on there own? I've looked into how legal it is to do, and found that you can legally make it so long as you dont sell it. I was wondering how much it would cost, and if it were worth it. Thought i might try it sometime this summer, but wanted some input first. Thanks!

Used to be a magazine called "Mother Earth News" and if you can find it in a library or someplace they probably have plans for sale to build a Ethanol Still.
I bought plans from them at least 25 years ago but never got around to building it. I'm sure to be legal you must "denature" the ethanol so it can't be used as a beverage. This can be done by adding a small amout of gasoline to it.
I haven't tried but seems you should be able to get all kinds of info on internet.
If I remember right there are threads here with some directions. It takes a lot of grain to make fuel and you need to be able to sell the waste in order to make it profitable.
