On Page 6 in Ford Pickups 1965-86, printed by Chilton, it states "The Vehical Idetificatin plate is located on the right-side of the cowl top panel under the hood. I Looked on my '72 sport custom and cant find anything. Any help?
The problem with that is that my doors were replaced and the incorrect plate is there. As for the one on the door frame is has vehical vin and vehical type, none of the other info is filled in. I'm trying to find my paint codes.
In the engine bay the white paint that is peeling up releves black, and I think it might have been all white due to that I took some paint down to primer and thats all I found. It had 2 different colors of brown on the way down one the older coat being darker.
Try removing the seat and see what color the truck is there or behind the dash. Hard to believe, but, it appears my truck was gold with a green interior from the factory. Or at least the 1971 F-100 body.
You may look around the front wheels depending on which model truck you have. My VIN is also stamped on top on the framerail near the front tire. (F260) Like Rebocardo said, looking behind the dash is also a good idea.
