Hello all. I have a 92 f150 with 6 cyl engine 5 speed my problem is the check enine comes on right after i start to drive and i can feel a hesitation when it does the truck has been cold natured wanting to die untill it warms up this morning i cranked on her for 10 minutes and finnally i rolled it off and it started after about 25 feet and started fine the rest of the day even after it had set for 6 hours. when i bought it someone switched to points and i put it back to electronic and changed plugs wires fuel filter and still have the problem..any help will be greatly appreciated....
Welcome to FTE. Pull the codes. If you go to www.fordfuelinjection.com, on the righthand side is a link that says "Pulling the codes yourself", or something to that affect. All you need is some wire, a pad of paper and a pen. Pretty easy to do. Thats the only way we are going to be able to help you.
ok the way i understand it the sti should be a single pin plug my truck has the 6 pin triangle box and directly behind it is a round plug with 2 round pins after you remove it from the cap and below it is a square one hanging with a gray cap it has 2 female looking plugs in it i dont want to connect to anything being unsure my luck i will burn up somthing also i just noticed that the vaccum line to what i assume is the egr was unplugged and a screw was used to plug it and on the egr nothing just the bare nipple where the line would go no plug off on it maybe the guy i bought it from was to tight to buy one so that may be my problem i will plug it up ofcourse and see what happens tommorow. I really cant complain it runs great and drives better the body is perfect except for som paint fade and i got it for $800 bucks but i would like to resolve this problem as i think it may be robbing some power..
Ok i got it it turns out the guy sold it to me i guess because he couldent figure it out he replace almost everything including the relays well by reading these thrads i decided to test the fuel pump with the eec test ground and it dident work so i changed a relay still nothing so i noticed the pins were corroded after cleaning them it tested fine now it has twice the power and runs like a new truck..This forum is great...
Thanks for all the help guys.................
