I want to restore my 70 ford i looked at jc whittney.has any body used there weather striping, or window channels, winshield gasket for the front,or bumber,or the fenders.if any of you guys have any places that has factory parts or know of any places that has parts that fit perfect.thanks
I have just purchased a 1970 F250, regular cab,360-auto trans, camper special, 2wd long bed. I have severe rust in both sides floor pans. I also have worn out steering box and all bushings. I have just started my restoration by taking the seat out and rubber floor cover to inspect rust. I will need many of the parts you will need. I have looked at JCWhitney and Hemmings Motor news. I am not sure I trust JCWhitney. I will probably use Auto Zone for steering box and bushings.
I asked that exact same question a while back and the general answer was that the JCW stuff was just fine. I don't like the shipping charges, but they do offer free shipping or 10~15% discount on most things.
As for the rust, I'm using Por15 and several others here have had positive results with it as well.
I am attempting to take interior door panel off, do not want to break anything, I cannot figure how the window crank handle comes off. I am attempting to pry but it feels as if it is about to break. Can anyone advise if there is a set screw or something holding the handle onto the shaft.
Don't bother buying the floormat JC Whitney list as "custom fit" and "will not tear". Neither claim is true. Mine does NOT fit around the hump near the firewall and it tore during installation. I gues that's why it was so cheap.
Good luck

old ford window regulator handles had 3 ways of retention that i know of....a screw in the center of the round part, an allen set-screw in the side (probably under the handle), or a clip that is removed from behind the round part.
Short of shipping it back to JCWhitney do you have any suggestions on installing their custom rubber floor mat?
I have one I have not attempted to install it yet. Any suggestions or advise is appreciated.
Just send it back. Contact Dan Carpenter Specialties about their rubber floor mat. I don't think it is the same thing. Just ask and they can tell you. I want to go with a floormat out of a cargo van with the 'carpet fiber' backing if I can find one. My father got lucky and found enough to do the floor in his Model A and it worked out really well.
I need a left hand window regulator too. As far as I can tell they do not have them at motorhaven. Can these be rebuilt with just gears?
$130 is rather steep and if I am going to spend that much I might as well go electric or try a later model junk yard hack?
My vent window handle is broken too. I guess what motorhaven sells is the complete frame for $35.00? For the $35 I would rather have the locking type, is it available?
i am also restoring a 1970 ford and i have a book from macs antique auto parts. several of their parts are genuine ford replacements and the others ore just as good. try them
Haven't seen it listed so I'll put it out there. Dennis Carpenter has just about anything and everything for these trucks and he uses origanal tooling for just about all of it. Havent gotten a chance just yet to buy anything from them but you cant beat original.
[link:http://www.dennis-carpenter.com/|http://www.dennis-carpenter.com/] This has been my best source for parts so far. Seems like just about every auto catalog out there skip this era of truck.
