Finally I decided to post here! I've learned a lot, and have seen a lot of cool trucks on this site. In 2003 I even bought a truck I saw on this site's classifieds - A 2001 F250 5.4V8 4x4. It was a great truck until I racked up 103,000 miles on it and sent it off for a F150. As of this week, I'm now back in the SD world.
I just bought a '04 F250 PSD Lariat 4x4. It already has 55,000 on it. Being that this is my first diesel, what do I need to know? Durability, maintainance, etc.
@ 55k it's just barely broken in - congrats on the new truck. You'll probably catch the PSD "mod" wallet draining bug before too long.
I'd start by getting an Oasis report to see what's been done to it. Did you get any mod info from the prev owner? Other than changing a few fluids you should be good to go for a while. I'd start the fluid changes w/ the engine oil, trans & possibly the x-fer case. (esp - if the prev owner towed a lot)
Find out what flash it's running - see the guys over in the 6.0 forum for lots of good info on this.
