So I have gone through the entire archives... Man is that a trip! I am still haveing trouble with the wiper switch. I purchased a new switch from Miller in New York and they sent the part that was the proper number and arrangement for the original or so I believe but seems that the connection is a different type!I didn't get a picture of it yet but the connector end had the 4 wires and such but in a much different arrangement. sort of like this:

ha ha ha SORRY FOR THE GRAPHIC!
Is it okay for me to just splice the wires onto a new female end? and if so does any one know what the pattern is as I don't have the wire diagrams yet...
oh and on a second note.. when do you know for sure that the front leaf sprins are going bad?
If the front end is lower than its supposed to be, the springs are losing strength. The springs should have a visible arch to them, if they're flat, or bent over backwards, they are done in.
Do you know about converting your old single speed wiper syatem to a intermittant system using 100% Ford parts. And did you also know this modification is not visible to anyone unless they crawl up under the dash and even then many will not notice the change. This gets you two speed intermittant wipers with available late model Ford or after market parts and is virtually a bolt in deal. Check the technical articles for additional instructions. Unless you are doing a show truck or some museum restoration make the switch.
it is not a two speed? I was under the impression that it was... I am not for the show truck deal so sure and I have seen some of the other posts concerning it. I just have the switch in hand...
Okay I am still on about this... The pic is poor but I think you can make out the connector. Anyone know that this is for? Yeah it is for the wiper switch but I was wondering what switch matched this... Thanks in advance. And thanks for the help earlier. I don't know crap about all of this old truck stuff and feel like I got thrown under the bus by getting this truck the way I did... It looks great, but this is going to be a real project!
I can't tell much by the photo. Ford did use more than one setup over the years and you never know if a previous owner hasn’t made some modifications as well. If the wiring harness unplugs from the motor you likely have a two speed motor. This two speed setup requires a special switch, harness and motor. These motors were made by Bosch American. The rest of the trucks of this era will have a single speed system with an integral harness (you can't unplug it). You have three choices as I see it. Single speed, two speed or the variable/intermittent deal I spoke about earlier. I have enough junk parts laying around to fix you up with whatever system you need. Send me a PM and I'll try to help you out.
