I have just purchased a 1990 ford f350 7.3 international diesel. It had been sitting for at least 2 years. It started right up nad ran pretty good considering.
I have changed oil and oil filter and the fuel filter. The motor has a lot of rattling and knocking noise from the passenger side of engine, seams to be coming through the exhaust. I am not familiar with diesels and not sure if this is normal as the engine starts runs strong and does not smoke. Just makes a lot of noise. would appreciate any help with this. Thanks
Give us some info re transmission, mileage, oil or coolant consumption. Is there any smoke from tailpipe, does the pipe smell sweet like A/F. Are you using fuel additives Stanadyne or Power Service, did you drain the tanks or check for algea in the fuel.
Has it got the OEM muffler system ........??
Is this noise all the time or just on a start... they may rattle good on a start.
