I pulled the wrap off today when I put in an injector. It really does make it whistle! I would recommend if you like to hear the turbo!

The insulation actually ADD's to the total increased temp by keeping more heat in. Bare tubes will radiate the heat to the outside.

Right. The air in that pipe is much hotter than the temps in the engine compartment.

According to our paper on Sunday which had an article on it, he actually owns 3 of them! It did not specify whether they were the H1 or H2 though. I think you are right about his first one though because he was one of the first people to buy one when they became available to the public. In the article it said he abandoned the Hydrogen fuel idea because it was too expensive for him.

Ford went to the wrapped tube in '99.5 to quiet down the noise and insulate the tube from engine heat. But, the biggest reason was that this tube is made from plain old aluminized steel exhaust tubing, which was way cheaper than the original all aluminum tubes before that. I just replaced my aluminum tube (blown hose), with a new wrapped steel tube and noticed no difference in sound or noise level. The only thing I noticed is that the wrapped one fit alot tighter than the original. Got a new hose, gonna put the original one back on.

You hear no difference coming from the front of the cab?

Other noise-increasing yet performance-enhancing mods would be to open up the intake and exhaust. Whatever exhaust you've got, ditch the muffler.

hpx and fuel mods will help quiet the engine... ww, ats housing, straight piped exhaust will help with turbo noise. Or... a garrett ball bearing turbo.

HPX (noticed no real difference) but still seems like a good idea.

4" turbo back strait pipe, W/W, kwick filter, un-wraped IC pipe (which is kinda like tryin' to skin a cat) = AWSOME turbo noise. Personaly I think it sounds as loud if not louder than the 6.oh's.
And I love hearing people go "MAN whats with all the whistling"

I just pulled out my 9000lb camper to give it a shake down and when i took it down the road i was impressed at how loud the WW got since i removed the crap wrap! WOW! Hope the wife doesn't get annoyed. May have to re-wrap it!
I'll get some recordings once my laptop computer is fixed.

Great sound after it is gone and I think i found some stuff to make removal easy

Available at Lowes - Crown Solu-Strip Adhesive Remover (semi-paste) ~25 bucks/gallon.(I used about a Qt.)

Tore of foil wrap and allpied the solvent to the glue. waited 10 minutes and took a wire brush to brush off glue. 2 on at 1 - 10 elbow grease scale (10 Max). Washed with Dish soap, dried and put back in truck. Total time ~45 minutes
