I have a 1998 F-150 with 4.6 V8. It has the second thermostat put in it but after running for a while the radiator never gets hot >the heater hoses are both hot, but not the rad. or the top hose.
CowboyBilly9mile,
The engine gauge in dash registers normal and the heat coming off the heater core seems to be okay. But when you run the truck down the road and then check the radiator after returing, the radiator is still cold. I wonder if I might cook the heads.
There may be no problem, but as a test, you might remove the thermostat to insure circulation and measure the temp with a candy thermometer in the radiator just to see if the temp gauge is reading correctly.
