Bending push rods

I replaced a broken valve spring on my 351m that has 130k miles on it. The push rod was bent. It's bent 3 more push rods after replacing the spring. What would be the cause? Could the lifter be bad? The springs are stock and don't seem to be going solid.
Any sugestions?

My guess would be a bent valve....I've seen that happen more than once when a broken valve spring allowed the valve to kiss the piston top..it does not take much.
