sweet! im hoping to get a 4 in system for my o6. but iv got a few other thing on the list first. as far as tires go i would look at the bfg at or mt. and the nitto terra grappler or mud grappler. good luck and enjoy your new lift!
keep it ford
Still waiting on everything, its driving me nuts. The lift came in yesterday but they were closed when I went down to pick it up. I was gonna have the shop I ordered it from install it but they cant until late next week. So Im doing it my self in the driveway. the truck might look a little funny for a few days, my new tires havent come in yet. I will post pics when everything is complete.
Went down again today to pick up my lift and they only had one front spring pack and one rear spring pack. I asked what the hell, am I only going to lift half my truck. The rest of the parts wont be in until next week now. Damn im mad. Two days in a row driving 35 min and not getting my lift. Never going going back to California Truck Accessories in Bakersfield again.
This lift kit is just a disaster. Lift finally came in, came in on Friday. I had to call them today on Monday to find out it was in. Real nice customer service.
Get home and get to work, now the real fun begins. My initial intension was to jack up the front end and place jack stands. Work on both sides at the same time. Free the springs from the axle and drop it down outta the way, slip in new springs and all the other stuff. But I decided to read the instructions first, what a mistake. It says to only do one side at a time starting with the drivers side. So ok i'll follow the directions. Except doing it this way twists everything and nothing lines up when you try to put it back together. So now I have to wrestle these huge springs by myself, pry and finally use a come along to get the spring eyes to line up with there shackles. But now the springs are way off to the front where they should be on the axle. The alignment pin is about 4" too far forward, and the axle cant be moved because everything on the other side is still attached.
Now after a whole days work not even half the front is done.
Another little rant about California Truck. The jack *** sales man got me the wrong front springs. The V10 and PSD use one spring and the V8 uses another. He got me the damn V8 springs. So im probably gonna loose alittle off my 4" lift.
That's rough! Try loosening the passenger side u-bolt. It will hold with just a few threads showing on each end and should allow you to muscle the axle around a little easier. Ideally of course would be to have 2 jacks and just simply put the other jack on the passenger side under the axle and loosen up the u-bolt then. Seriously though, I know it was bad dealing with that shop, but I would get the proper springs and not put springs meant for a V-8 on your truck. The spring is not designed to handle the extra weight and at best you'll just bottom-out, get a bouncy ride, or get spring wrap. At worst you could bust a spring.
ON EDIT: Sorry it's late. I re-read and what I meant to say was loosen the passenger side u-bolt just enough to clear the center pin from the axle perch.

All in all i probably have 14 hours of work into this install. Im working with just hand tools. Couldnt talk the wife into buying a compressor and air tools. Man my hands are sore.
I got everything on the front end assembled, except for the track bar into the new bracket and the sway bar links. I put the tires back on to get it off the stands while im at work for the next 4 days. 24hr shifts suck!!! The retards I ordered from have the right springs coming with the right U bolts. I am going to get everything finished front and back including the swap of the U bolts so I can drive it down to there shop. The only way Im gonna swap out those springs in the front is if they eat the labor and do the work for me to make things right. It has been nothing but a hassle from day one with them its the least they could do.
With the truck down off the stands it looks good. Even without the back being done and the little 33's on it and no bumper. Looks good.
