Bought my first F250 2001 V10. Took it home and took it out in the woods and had to have a tow truck take it back to dealership. OD light flashing . They have had it for 2 days . Said Fuse 7 was popped causing the check engine malfunction. They now claim they cannot recreate the problem and have checked through the wiring harnass, etc.
They have driven up and down hills(they say) and cannot recreate any transmission problem at all.
I heard when the OD light starts flashing,, put it in park and idle it for awhile to cool down the tranny fluid ?? I guess making sure the tranny cooler is un-obstructed would be a good tip, why did you need the tow,,??
The flashing OD light indicates that the computer saw something wrong.
Without reading the codes, it doesn't mean anything.
The VSS (speed sensor on top of rear diff) can go and it'll make the speedo freak out (sometimes), the ABS light come on (sometimes), and/or the OD light to blink. Cheap sensor, easy to replace.
Other than that, it could have been over-temp (check the fluid and see if it's burnt smelling). It could have been slipping too much. It coulda been anything...
How's it shift? And like everyone else asked, why the tow? Did it not go into drive or something? What?
