I ahve a 97 F150 4.6 auto w/182600mi. When driving on the highway and get off to exit, when I hit 30mph I can feel the truck downshift and also notice the rpm go up a little and come back down. If I hit 40 and slow down to about 35 and manually turn OD off it is very harsh when it downshifts. Any info would help me. I don't have the money for a rebuild.
P.S. I changed the filter about 10000mi ago. Would draining the TC and pan solve the problem, when refilled with fresh fluid. Would taking it to a tranny shop be better since I am a little leary of draining the pan and TC myself. Would a flush and fill be best?
