I have an issue with brake light indicator. When the ignition is in accessories position brake light indicator in dash goes on so lamp works. But it does not light when parking brake is engaged. I looked for a sensor on pedal arm, (like on standard brake pedal) but could not locate. Need to rectify in order to pass inspection any ideas.
Thanks

The brake indicator on the dash indicates the condition/position of the proportioning valve and "balance" of the hydraulic braking system not the parking brake.
I don’t believe there ever was a parking brake indicator light on your truck.
That's it. If it's on at any other time you have a failure in the braking system. This is the way it was from the factory. If your mechanic is failing you for this then you need a new mechanic. Preferably one who isn't wet behind the ears.
Great, thanks for the info. I was pretty sure I had never seen that indicator illuminate when the parking brake was in use. Now to get the inspection folks to understand.

Well, good luck with that. Inspectors can be lunkheads at times.
Perhaps a letter from Ford would help?
All my paperwork, wiring diagrams, etc.. doesn't even show a switch or light for the parking brake, until the 1984 model year.
