Just thought I'd report on my impression of the Diablosport on my 2004 FX. I know I was always looking for impressions of the tuners before installing mine. If this helps any one decide one way or the other that's great. After reading the forum and threads both positive and negative on the predator, I was a little leary about using the tuner. After reading all the threads about the Edge I thought I'd try mine and if I didn't like it I could always change. It was actually easier to intall than downloading the new tune from the internet. The manual really is not the best, but the step by step on the tuner was pretty simple. I installed the performance tune for premium.
Right out of the box the accelerator response in nuetral was night and day. On the road I found myself peeling away from almost all stops with out really trying. I found the shifting pattern much better, and the best thing of all my truck really does have a passing gear that I never had before. All in all I'd say it was worth it, although the dash mounted monitor of the Edge still looks like it would be pretty cool. Anyone out there tried both tuners and can make a comparison?
Hey tank, I have heard nothing but good things from the people at Diablo. There is another site that I frequent often and they are sponsored by Diablo. I am currently looking at tuners as well. I really like the Edge just for the fact that it stays in the vehicle and has many uses other than just a tuner. I have also heard of problems with Edge not taking updates and basically shutting the truck down in certain tune modes. The Diablo is on my list for certain. Like stated before I have heard good things. I had a Hypertech chip in my 97 Expedition and loved the power and performance it gave. I am also considering that company for a tuner . Kind of a tossup really.... they all do the same basic thing, the Edge gives you a little more flexability if you ask me, plus you get the "cool" factor of extra gauges, temp readings, and multi colored backlights. Plus it looks great on the dash! Thanks for the info!
I have had the Diablo Sport for four months now and have talked about how much I like it on other threads. My truck woke right up. Right now I'm running the premium tune but I'm using mid-grade fuel with the timming retarded just enough until the pinging went away and I firmed up the shifts and set wide open throttle shift rpm's a little higher. I have heard much good about the Edge Tuner, but not having one, I can't comment first hand. Having a monitor to see engine readouts definitly sounds good though.
I've had the Diablo, Superchips and now the Edge Evolution. The Edge has them beat by a wide margin on my truck. Much better response, the shifts are firm without being over the top and the display is really awesome.
Spend the extra few bucks and get the Edge....it gives you so much more.
