2001 Explorer V8 Duals

Hello everyone,

I posted this question before, but failed to get a response. I'd like to hear what everyone has to say about running duals out the back, similair to the older Mustang exhaust exits. If I went that route, I'd run the pipes off the stock cats and no muffler.... The other route would be to buy a FLowmaster 40 or 50 series and use the stock exit.

I'd appreciate ALL comments and or help on this matter... even your 0.02 worth...

Thanks,
Metauser

I had a set of duals put on my '97 Explorer Sport w/ 4.0. I had them exit at an angle behind the rear wheels. I used the stock cats, but when I get the extra money I'm upgrading to a single high flow cat, and had performence mufflers put in each pipe. I know I only have a V6 but with the set up I have it sounds great but its not no V8.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what route to take. I'd love to have them look and sound like the older Mustangs.... But, the more I read, the more I think going to a Flowmaster or a Gibson setup with a single exit will yeild the best performance, afterall, having one pipe run around the spare tire would only hinder exhaust flow....

Like I said, I'm not sure. I'll know more on Monday when I visit the local muffler shop.... I might end up just buying a Flowmaster and having them put it on.

NOW, a flowmaster... 40 series, 50 series, 70 series or a Hushpower??????
