Okay, anyone have any idea of where i can find one of these bad boys. I've looked all over the internet, and cant find anything. LMC has one listed in their catalog but it says "stick on backing" and mine has 2 bolts that come off. The ones in the junk yards are in pretty rough shape and the plastic studs that the nuts go onto on the back just break off when i try and unscrew them anyway. I would like to get a Ford Emblem for prom on saturday (4/29) but am having a tough time finding one. Please help!
Yea, your prom date is gonna be real put off going out with a guy with an old emblem......as if she'd even see it!
Theyre on ebay. They come up once in awhile...actual NOS Ford part for 10 or 15 dollars. Dealers don't have it?
I usually dont go to dealerships since the last time i called for the filler tube from the gas door to the tank on my ranger was something like $295, like for a piece of rubber, so i havent been brave enough. Also, the prom thing, its not just an old emblem, its like so deteriorated you cant really read its a ford. I've completely repainted the truck and am going to Herculine my flatbed, so after going through all that work not having the front grille emblem which is what everyoen is going to see when i pull up is just kind of defeating.
Try the dealer - most of the time the parts there are very reasonable compared to the parts stores.
I'll refrain from making fun of you, because I remember my prom. I was acting just like you are. I'll tell you a secret though - she won't notice, and if she does she won't care, and if she does you don't want to put up with her anyway.
That emblem is very comon, and used on trucks today.
Go to a wrecker that carries newer ford vehicles. Measure the diameter of the emblem on your truck, and get one out of a newer vehicle. Ford only makes about four or five sizes for their entire car and truck range.
Since the emblems are so comon, you may be able to get it at Ford at a reasonable price.
Im taking my girlfriend in my lifted f150 to her prom. I got an emblem at a dealership for 18 bucks a few years ago, so try there a phone call cant hurt too bad. Good luck. BTW My girlfriend would notice most little things like that on my truck. She and her family are FORD NUTS!!! Just like ME!!! Go FORD!!!
yeah same here, the GF loves the truck. Called teh dealership, 34.07+tax. I think i'll drop by and order one. I've checked the Junkyards, 87 era trucks use the same size but the mounts are totally different, and the emblem is thicker with a curve on the back. The 92 era trucks have a tiny ford emblem on the grill, all the vans at my junkyard have busted emblems, so i think i'll just drop by and buy one from a ford dealership, its 35 bucks but they can get it by tomorrow morning and stuff, so i guess why not.
I'm pretty sure I noticed some Ford ovals (and Chevy bowties) for sale at Wal-Mart a couple months ago. Don't know if they'll fit but maybe worth a try.
I bought mine a few years back from the dealer. It was like $36. If you can't can't get it from you local dealer, try Sanderson Ford in Phoenix, there on line or Dennis Carpenter Ford on line.
