Question

Big Block weight?

How much does a 460 weigh compared to a 390FE? I am hoping to do a swap and I wondered how the weight of the 460 is compareable to the 390...

don't know what the 390 weighs. A stock 460 is about 750lbs complete, just under 700 if you go to an aluminum intake and right around 600 with aluminum heads and intake.

about 650-670 complete on a 390... drop 70-80 lbs for an aluminum intake and another 30-40 for aluminum heads....

460 is 750 a 390 is about 650. with all aluminum top parts you can drop the weight down to 550. Hot rod magizine did a weigh test before and after during their FE buildup.
