U-Joints (vibrations)
I need some help! It's regarding my U-Joints. I need to replace my U-Joint. Apparently, there's a back log on the F150 U-joints. The F150 must be having a lot of issues regarding this subject. Matter of fact, Ford has a running emergency list to get the U-joints. At this point, I'm looking for an alternative to waiting in line for a substandard Ford part. To give you fellas a better storyline, my ordeal all started about a month ago after taking in my truck in for a re-torque of my suspension, front end alignment, and balancing all my tires. On my way home, I thought my front wheels came off. It started shaking so bad at one point that I couldn't control the steering wheel so after gaining control I exited the freeway and took a look around and underneath the truck. The first thing I noticed was a fluid leak coming from the tail shaft housing so I dropped it off at the local Ford Service. They inspected and found the transfer case rear seal leaking in which they replaced, but it didn't get rid of the vibration. After picking up my truck, I quickly pointed it out to them that it still vibrated and they're response to the vibration was that the truck was lifted blah blah blah. At this point, my relationship with my local Ford Service Department went sour so I went on my way to seek assistance from my 4x4 shop. They put it on the lift and found the U-joint having a lot of play, which possibly was causing the vibrations. Which brings back to my question, is anyone aware of a manufacture that I can turn to for a replacement of my u-joint? I apologize for going on and on and on…….
my first thought was that it was the 'bfg mtrs' - or the tires just being out of balance...
since then ive heard 'its normal' or 'maybe its the leafs'... so on and so on...but i have an '86 FSB with the same size tire (bfg a/t's) and she doesnt have any of these issues @ all - and SHES 20 YEARS OLD...
so, like you - id like to get to the bottom of this...
