Iv got a 78 F150 4X auto with factory cruse. The plastic “wood” trim is warn, cracked and the cruse switches are getting very temperamental. Iv looked aftermarket and found nothing. Yesterday I was in my son-in-law’s 80 something f150 with cruse and the wheel looked the same.
The wheel itself is in fair shape so what I am looking for is the insert; the center part with “wood”, horn and buttons (cruse switches), mine is pretty bad.
Idea………..The son-in-laws sure looks the same, except for the resume, I wonder if a later year would function. Its a piece of cake to remove (two screws), maybe I should borrow his and give it a shot.
Thanks for any help and your contributions to this site. Craig
Well I borrowed the 80s “pad” from the son-in-laws truck and it works, all but the resume feature\button, it doesn’t do anything. This opens up more possibilities. I can live with an extra button that doesn’t function if I can find a pad that looks good and everything else is ok. Unless you know, I’m going over to the 80s site and ask when that style ended.
If you get the complete wiring and the brain box....
Actually I wont need the 80s system. The 80s pad I borrowed, and put in my 78 for a test, works fine. Cruse switches and horn function normally except for the resume/coast button, it doesn’t do anything, I can live with that.
