Well, I got the air leaks and the fuel leaks fixed. I was letting my truck sit and warm up this morning, it sat there for about 15 minutes. When coming back out to the truck, I noticed a large puddle under the motor. I was worried that I had another fuel leak, but didn't understand why it would be. I just replaced all the return lines and tee's on the motor friday night. After checking the puddle under the truck, it was antifreeze. I just topped off the coolant yesterday, as it was a about a gallon low. I had not noticed a leak before. It is only leaking when the truck is running, and I could not see where it was coming from for sure. It appears to be the water pump. How are the autozone water pumps? Should I go with the new water pump, or is the reman they sell ok? Any tips? Thanks
sounds like water pump to me . and if it was me I would get a good one. I hate changing water pumps so I always spend a little more for a new one. as far as autozone I dont know. but they are good about returning things. but there again you still have to take it back off to return it.
Well, I went and bought a new water pump. Before I started changing the pump, I noticed coolant around the neck of the radiator. I pulled the cap off the truck (it had been sitting all day, I drove it for 2 minutes to get to the shop), and it spit water everywhere. I'm sure this should not have been pressurized like it was. Has anyone had this happen before? Well, I checked the radiator, and did not see any oil in the water. I checked the oil, and did not see water in the oil. I left the cap off the radiator and let the truck sit there and warm up to open the thermostat. When open, I had to add almost a gallon of coolant to be full. The coolant level would raise and lower at a cyclic rhythm. When increasing the throttle, it would suck the water level down, as soon as I would let off it would spit coolant everywhere. I was thinking that this could possibly be a blown head gasket or cavitation, atleast from what I have read on here. Is it possible for this to have another explanation? Could it just be a bad water pump? Also, do you have to pull the engine to change the pan gasket and front seal? I now have a major oil leak. If it is a major problem, I might just be shopping for a new truck, I'm sick and tired of dumping money into this truck to have something else go wrong. Thanks
