What you guys running for a battery? I have a 99 F-250 V10 and running a AutoZone premium battery which only seems to last a few months and then the cells go bad. I'm on my second one now and I think it's already going bad again. I listen to my stereo system alot at work while on break. About one hour with the volume just up slightly. I'm running a MTX amp and JL audio amp and just listening to it for around a hr my battery is almost dead by then and has trouble starting my truck. I'm going to with a better brand and was just wondering what kinda batteries you guys are running with decent stereo systems with amps. I was thinking may a optima battery but just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks.
imo, the optima is a great battery. but u might want to check your belt and alternator first. a few months on any battery doesnt sound right to me. matt
Yeah, sounds like the regulator might be overcharging the battery. Get a volt meter (good one) and check the voltage at idle. Should get as high as 14.2 volts or so.
If you're going to consistently run an amp/etc, get a deep-cycle battery, mount it somewhere and hook up a rectifier to isolate it from the main battery. That way, if you do run the deep-cycle down, you can still start the truck. Which is what I'm going to be doing after it comes off lease.
