Can anyone recommend a transmission cooler. I have a 01 F150 s cab. with the 4.6l and auto trans.
I only plan on towing a 16 ft boat. I see lots of coolers online but wanted to know which brands are good and what size you would recommend. I see alot of hayden ones. are those anygood?

The regular name brands are pretty safe bets. Hayden and Rapid Cool have been used by me in the past with good results. I think Permacool has a cooler. I have their remote filter and it has worked fine.
The more modern designs use stacked plates which gives you more cooling for size than the older tube style coolers.
I was told by several shop owners and from reading that you should choose a cooler that is about the size of your combined weight. For example. if your truck weighs 5000# and the trialer weighs 3,000#, I would get a cooler that is rated for about 10,000#. Don't go for the biggest cooler you can find. A tranny needs to be a t a certain temperature to operate properly so the biggest cooler may keep you from ever reaching operating temp. Of course under cooling is worse than over cooling.
