[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Aug-02 AT 08:43 PM (EST)]What is it exactly and what is a modern day equivalent? I am changing my intake manifold gaskets and pulled the push rods. The manual says to put Lubriplate on them. What else would work? Thanks!
Slicker than owl pookie on a glass sidewalk, that's what it is!!!
Just go to your local parts house and ask them for assembly lube. They'll hand you what looks like a giant tube of toothpaste that smells like cod liver oil.
Lubriplate is a company name with a ton of products now, see: http://www.lubriplate.com/
The Lubriplate product Ford referred to way back when is their old No. 105 motor assembly grease. This lubricant has been in continuous production without change in formulation by Fiske Bros. Refinery since 1933. It’s a petroleum based product that contains calcium soap, mineral oil and additives. It’s water resistant and designed for plain bearings, cams, slides, etc. Check out the MSDS on it.
