C-6 backup light switch?

My 79 f-250 camper special(460,C-6) needs the backup lights to work for inspection. The problem is that I can not find any wiring from the harness to the transmission, the only wires I can find go to the brake porportioning valve . The chilton manual shows the connection on the left side of the transmission behind the neutral safety switch but mine looks nothing like it. There is only a shaft with the outer lever being the kickdown lever and the inner being the manual shift lever. Could the neutral safety/backup switch be missing or could it be located somewhere else? Is there a difference between the camper special transmission and a normal transmission?

the reverse light switch/neutral safety switch combo on a C6 is located on the shifter arm of the trans.there are 4 wires. two for nss, and two for reverse lights. I have never seen them any place else.

I don't remember the years but some of the older trucks have the neutral safety/back up switch on the top of the steering column under the dash.
