I have a 5.0L from an '86 Lincoln MKVII that came with the compressor mounted on the passenger side. I'd like to swap positions of the alternator and compressor for cleaner, more direct plumping for the A/C. Question:
Can anyone tell me what FORD, LINCOLN or MERCURY 5.0L models had the Compressor on the passenger side and whose bracketry I could easily swap to my application?
Anybody done this and have some advice?
Thanks !
GW
In a previous post, Joe Gaddy had said "my factory Ford manual for 84 [and Chilton thru 94] shows Town Car, Crown Vic, and Grand Marq, to have the A/C compressor on pass side." Does anyone know of any other models...say trucks that would interchange? LMK
I'm planning a "scavenger hunt" to a nearby "Pick ur own" Wreckers lot and would like a "shopping list" of what to scout for.
Thanks
GW

Reason: Missed info
It sounds like you already have the A/C on the pass. side but want it in a different place on the pass. side, or did you mean you want it on the driver's side?
Is the '86 Linc serpentine or still V-belt for the A/C?

Albuqueque,
You're right! My A/C Compressor is currently mounted on the Dr. side and I want to move it to the passenger side closer to the evaporator for ease of plumbing. BTW the belt is a single serpentine belt.
Do you know of a model with the bracketry I need?
