After about 4 hrs last night and about the same today, I got my 6 oh intercooler with the GTS kit installed in my 96. Its a pretty good project all by yourself! Its real late so I did'nt take her for a spin but I'll report back on how she does. Is their anything in particular that I need to check...keep a eye on ect??? Thanks
Layne
Well I drove it around today. Their is a little lag, The only way I can tell that is by the boost gauge. Runs as good or better than before. And go figure, my pyro went haywire so I cant tell egt difference. My max boost was 19-20 psi before. Know the most I can get is 15-16psi. Is this normal? At normal crusing speed(65-70) the boost is down also.
Now I cant wait till I get the dough to do the rest!!
1997f-350.........I'm gonna get pic soon and I'll post them. Cost was 625 for the GTS kit, 40 bucks for the 3-3 1/4 intercooler boot, and I got the intercooler off ebay for 65 bucks. So all in all about $725. Thats better than 12-1400 for kit from banks.......
The GTS kit came with the spyder. And I kept the stock intakes.
hey
looks like you did a nice job on the install! good job!
so can you still use the stock engine cover or will the intercooler pipes be to big for it to bolt up?
how much more power do you think you gained with this mod?
Mitch
Cant have the cover no more. On both my psd's the cover were pulled and left off right after I got them.
No power gained with the mod. The little I would gain by cooler denser air is lost in turbo lag and lower boost. But.......I now can upgrade injectors, push more fuel a and still keep egt's in check while towing.
looks great i now have ic envy. you did a good job.
only thing i dont understand is the stock airbox still ????

you could fit a late 97-03 style cover. they are much smaller. my dad has a 12/97 psd with one they are pretty cool.

I knew I would catch crap for the stock air box!!LOL I just bought this truck about 3 weeks ago. And had the intercooler coming together for the 94. But since this will become my main towing outfit(because of 4 drs!) the IC went in this truck. A Tymar is going in as soon as I get a little more dough$$. Along with HPX and a few more things...possibly a 1.0 housing. For injectors I seriosly considering the DIY route. Maybe build them to 150-160cc's.
sweet... i was gonna build my own when i had my 9 spare cores. but it wasnt cost effective the route i wanted. but with dzljims new thing it should be pretty cheap and easy to do. good luck and definitely let us know how it goes. congrats on the new truck btw.
