Why Do You Like Your '48-'60 Truck?
#61
I like the fat fenders, the smell, the way it looks when you open the garage. I guess what has got me into it is that my dad has always had ford trucks. Though never anything as old as my 55, it got the ford in my blood. When I bought it 3 years ago at the ripe age of 21, I wanted an extra vehile to play and work on. The difference with most my age is that I cant stand imports with 50 stickers and a bee hive sound to it. I think Ill go to the garage now!!!!!!

57-60
My love for these forgotten years goes back to high school. I got a hardship license here in Texas at 15. And drove my Mothers 81 accord for a few months, which had zero cool points. My best friend had a '57 that he and his dad had built. It had a late model ford stepside bed and a camaro front clip. One of our other running buddies had a 69 chevy swb that had been dropped in the rear to level it out. Anyway I was pretty disgusted with my ride. One day my Grandfather told me about an old truck that one of his employees had that was just sittin' and that I could probably get it for a song. Turned out to be a really nice '60 short fleetside. I got it for 1000 dollars. A few weeks later I took my then girlfriend to the homecoming dance. That old bench seat got broke in the old fashioned way and I've been in love with those trucks every since. I sold that old girl ( the truck ) when I went into the service in 1990. It took me 15 years to finally get another one to fix up. The great thing about the ******* years is that they can still be bought for the same price they were in the 80's!

I don't garage my truck at home, so I don't see it everyday. So when I open the service door on the garage where I store it, I am always delighted to see my F-3. I usually say "Hello, I'm here", like Pee Wee Herman, in Pee Wee's Big Adventure, when he opens the secret door to get his bike.

simplicity, nobody works on it but me..dependability..driving it since 1975..cheap insurance, no payments, no smog crap, 20mpg, no plastic except dash *****..and all the people you meet who want to ask quetions and talk and tell you about old cars and trucks they had..more fun then you could ever buy with a new one

Thats why I am slowly putting PS on it. Got a period style pump mounted to the engine and have the expensive part to go. ( getting the ram assist system) so I';m saving up to do that right now. JJust trying to get the pain in the backside things done now, pulleys etc. Hey have a fine one, later, Roy.

Where in Wy.
Bought my 57 in Cody , from a guy that got it in Greybull. We go up there every summer, have a daughter that lives in Cody. Its kinda our second home, we love it there. I would really like to trailer my truck back up there and show it off , but probably will not. Thanks for asking. Roy.

Bought my truck because here in El Paso, chevy's rule the road. I wanted something different and hardly seen around here. Lately I have noticed that there are about 5-8 trucks here in the city. We might try to start a FORD ol'classic club....plus it looks better than those old trucks in these years (1953-1956)

Well, it was my late father's truck. He bought it new in 1950 when he was only 23 years old. It was he and my mom's only car until 1953 when they bought an Oldsmobile. After that it was used on the farm until about 1970 and was "given" to me about 1975. I finally managed to fix it up and finish it about a month before he died in 2003. So obviously it's more than just an old truck to me.
