throttle linkage

Has anyone converted from factory linkage to a cable type throttle cable. My linkage is worn out.

I have never converted, BUT, I have a '66 with cable instead of rod. I compared it to my 72 with a rod-type linkage, which needs changing too, It looks like I'll need to change the accelerator, and put a bolt-down clamp for the carb end of the cable. It looks like the carb already has a round tit, the press-over type, for the carb end to pop on, so that's OK.
Check out local boneyards or drawings, and you can figure it out. If I remember, right, the cost of the cable isn't that much, so it would be worth it to get one, then use it to make sure you get the right parts.
Byt the way, both of my trucks have FE V-8 engines.
