Towing question

Anyone ever tow a full size Bronco on one of those wheel dolly things ? I need to tow my "mud bronco" about 100 miles on mothers day and have not been able to find a reasonable trailer yet. Ive got my 3/4 ton to pull it with. I was planning on taking the big tires off prior to towing and just putting normal size tires on... Thoughts ? U-haul says its too big to dolly...

Yeah thats what most will say because its technically a fullsize truck and for the most part the rental dollies are not wide enough to handle the track width of a fullsize. Its done on purpose with the rental units to keep people from trying to tow their Bronco with their Focus. You could flat tow it with a tow bar setup but I have no idea as to a source for the necessary equipment to do it this way. You'd probably have to buy the gear or find someone willing to loan it to you. I have a friend in the business of servicing and rebuiilding heavy equipment and his trailer can handle a Case 1530 backhoe so the Bronco is child's play.

A few years ago, I needed to pull my '93 Bronco behind a 14' UHaul. They were willing to rent the bar to connect the two.

I opted to have my Dad drive it, instead. Just didn't feel comfortable dragging my baby for 1800 miles.

Well I know that the BW T-Case is capable of being towed for long distances, because of the oil pump in it.

As long as the tow vehicle can handle it, a tow dolly isn't going to break under the weight of a Bronco. I would just tell them you're towing an Escort and take the thing home.

Check your owner's manual for sure, but you can tow the Bronco if you just leave the t-case in neutral. If you're paranoid like me, drop the driveshaft entirely and you're guaranteed not to have problems.

My local u-haul dosent rent that particular bar, but was willing to order one for me for sale...Ive put the word out looking to borrow a car trailer or a dolly...Ill be going about 100 miles, so If I do a dolly, I'll prob pull the rear shaft and put some stock size tires on it...

I used a UHaul tow dolly to tow a 88 Bronco from Dallas TX to Detroit Mi (give or take 50 miles). They changed it from a Bronco to a Bronco II on the paperwork so the computer program would accept it. I had no problems pulling it behind the 1 ton duelly Ram that I have.
