ignition coil replacement

I have a 1988 F 150 with a equiped with a EEC IV system. I have had a hard start problem for many years with all the forums help and sugestions I have decidec it might be a crack in the coil. The hard start is related as best as I can pin down to different times of the year. The early morning and afternoon especially if has been sitting for 6-8 hours. My question is how do I determine the resitance and voltage inmy current coil to make sure the replacement coil is correct. Thanks for any help.

IMHO, I would not be concerned, but I would recommend purchasing an OEM type replacement unit versus a "performance unit"- for ease of installation purposes. FYI, all of the oem replacement units are mfg'd in Mexico now (including AC Delco) at the same plant so it really doen't matter which brand name you go with.
