Ummm...Norton is pretty much a virus itself the way you can't get rid of it and it hogs system resources, kind of like AOL and its stupid programs.

Longtime, virus-free user of AVG here.

Also, don't forget Ad-Aware and Spybot Search and Destroy.

I run AntiVir, AD-Aware, and Spybot. I also have a smoothwall firewall box which works great once it is set up.

Norton came preinstalled on this system and it took about two hours to completely remove all traces of symantec from the system and registry. There are nasty virus' that are easier to remove than that.

Well, I guess I wasted $65.00

It has settled down and is behaving better now, but with dial-up, I have to be ever vigilant to continually disable the automatic-update/download on everything.

I had Norton on my OLD computer that was infected with the newest updates. McAfee is almost as useless.

I now run Trend Micro and found it easy to run and it blocks everything.

One more time for AVG. lol I've been using it for years and it works great. I also have Ad-Aware SE Personal, the combination of both seems to work out pretty well.
