What's up fellas. i'm the new guy and i have an annoying problem. It's a 71 F250 4x4 hi boy with a built 417cid FE. i'm embarrassed because i don't even know for certain which case it is, I think it's a NP 205, it is the factory case, but not pos. what it is. The problem is this: When I'm cruising down the road at 50 or above, the T case will pop out of gear. it's always in 2 high, but even if I lock it in 4 high it will still pop into neutral. I know it isn't a linkage problem, and I know i am getting it into gear because I have screwed with it repeatedly. Is it worn out? What do you guys think? and for identification purposes, i dont know if this helps, but on the selector **** where it has a diagram of where the gears are, it doesnt show a 2 low but it is there and it's a kinda hard to find. So maybe it's not the factory case?

You probably have a dana 24. THats whati have in my '70
These were used from about the early '50's into the '70's in various OEM brands and 4x conversion kits
Look for a tag on the driver's side that identifies the unit.
Most of the seals and internal parts will interchange from a Dana 23. the difference is that the 23 is a mirror of the 24 to accomodate the axle pumpkin that was on the wrong side of an inferior brand of truck . For some reason the guy at the local parts place could find seals for a dana 23 and not the 24 listed when i went to replace mine a few weeks ago.
