92 8.8 qustions

First question. Why would ford use a flange system on the 8.8? I have broke mine twice. Does anyone know if you can buy a aftermarket yoke for the 8.8 where it bolts right to the pinon and from there u-joint to the drive line? sec question. I have a 6 inch sky jacker lift with 35's and 4:56's. It looks like my angels on the rear drive line flange conecting to the pinon yoke. the pumkin looks like its tiped up a little to much. So im wonedering if i can lossen the u-bolt and somehow rotate the pumkin down a little.

Not sure on why they used a flange drive or if there is anything aftermarket to replace it with. I'm thinking that if you rotate the housing down, you may end up with too much angle at the rear u-joint? Are you having vibration problems with the shaft? If you want to rotate it down, you probably need to replace the lift block with one that has less taper to it.

I have both styles in the garage and if I can remember tomorrow I will measure both the 9 inch and the 8.8 to see if they will swap with each other for you. You may have to remind me to do so. I have been a little busy getting the house ready to sell.

That would be really helpful. If the 9inch would fit. that would make it quite a bit stronger imho

Just shoot me an e-mail or PM reminding me. I'll be building a crate tomorrow night so I will be in the garage anyways.
