50 weight motor oil
30 weight in cold weather *if* difficulty in shifting is encountered
this is from the decal in the glove box of my parts
truck (1970 f-250 4x4 dana 24/NP 435)
Don't use gear oil. The ingredients in it are not compatible with some of the materials used.
